Caring for Pearls
Using a few simple practices, pearls can be kept looking beautiful and lustrous. Caring and storing your pearls correctly, will preserve them for generations. Pearls are an organic material, composed largely of calcium carbonate and are derived from living crustaceans. They are porous which makes them susceptible to damage from perspiration and chemicals such as perfume, hairspray and makeup. Pearls should be wiped with a soft and slightly damp cloth after wearing. This will remove dirt and excess oils and perspiration from the skin, which will help to preserve their lustre and colour. Store pearls away from other jewellery
